Corry Zondergeld

Corry Zondergeld (Rotterdam 1970) has been admitted to the Royal Academy of Arts of The Hague. In 1994 she finished her training in such a successful way that her final examination project has been exposed in the Municipal Museum of The Hague. Realism in her works proved to manifest itself more and more after having left the Academy. She improved her capacities in drawing and her knowledge of anatomy by, amongst others, drawing at the Medical Faculties of Rotterdam, Utrecht and Amsterdam. During her lessons by the Master ' Painter Matthijs Röling (2007 - 2010), as well as while painting the model Gekke Hankel she developed a preference for painting by using the technique of 'wet in wet '. She realised that vividness was more obvious by the direct touches of the brushes, and also that spontaneous quick decisions lead to the development of natural feelings for forms, tones and colours. If a painting needs it, the use of a palette knife would not have been shunned. However the strokes of her brushes remain most important.
Corry Zondergeld likes colours, but at those moments when light and darkness perform a duo, the colours retreat to the background and she then makes use of earth colours.
